European Movement Staffordshire is please to announce its first event of 2025. Join us either in person at Erasmus Darwin House, Lichfield or on-line via Zoom to hear about the benefits of the Erasmus+ programme, now lost to the UK and what we could gain by rejoining.
Put it in your diary now: Saturday 18th January 2025, 15:00-16:30
We have a great line up of speakers who have themselves either benefited from the Erasmus+ programme or been involved in skills development programmes that did. They will share their own experiences and stories of opportunity now lost to citizens of the UK.
Tickets are FREE but we ask that if you can afford it you make a small donation to help us cover our costs.
Click here to book Ticket to attend in person at Erasmus Darwin House, Beacon Street, Lichfield, WS13 7AD. It is on the edge of the Cathedral Close, and a few minutes walk from the centre of Lichfield.
Click here to book Ticket to attend on-line via Zoom (joining link will be issued with the ticket)
The UK could rejoin the Erasmus+ programme as an associate third country which would restore some of the benefits without rejoining the EU. We believe this is a step the government should take as part of “resetting” its relationship with Europe. We hope that this event will show why everyone interested in developing their skills, improving their communities or building ties across our continent should push them to do so regardless of how they voted in the referendum.
Our speakers are:
Cecilia Jastrzembska is the president of the Young European Movement and winner of the Benazir Bhutto Prize for Performance in public speaking for her keynote address to the International Human Rights Commission World Summit on gender equality.
Kanika Safiya has extensive experience of working in the education sector and within the Erasmus+ programme
Matt Pointon is TUC/WMCA Skills Partnership Lead at the TUC and lecturer at the Workers Education Association (WEA)
Klajdi Selimi is a former president of the Young European Movement and a keen advocate for the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme.
There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and answers and we hope attendees will join the discussion by sharing some of their own experiences of Erasmus+.
